About the Author
Jennifer Davis Deckert is a passionate writer whose journey through life has been shaped by a deep love for music, a unique bond with her sister, and a commitment to storytelling. Growing up surrounded by the melodies of her accomplished musician parents, Jennifer’s childhood was filled with dreams of becoming a rock star, fueled by endless jam sessions with her sister Laural. Despite facing challenges with speech due to autism, Jennifer found solace and expression in writing from an early age, winning numerous awards for her poetry.
While her dreams of musical stardom led her to form the band Hydroplane with Laural and brother-in-law Johnny, tragedy struck on Christmas day of 2021 when Laural passed away suddenly. Devastated by the loss, Jennifer turned to writing as a means of healing and honoring her sister’s memory. Inspired by their shared love of storytelling, Jennifer began crafting fictional tales of Laural’s journey through various forms of existence — with her and Jaja’s characters making great discoveries and amazing adventures awaiting them in the universe and beyond — and therefore, finding solace in the creative process and offering comfort to her grieving family.
Driven by the belief that energy never truly fades but rather transforms, Jennifer Davis Deckert — who hails from California — channels her grief into her writing, finding a sense of connection to her sister’s spirit through the stories they once shared.
